A Look At The Pros And Cons Of Rotary Die Cutters

Business Blog

The equipment that you use for production and packaging in your facility will make all the difference in daily production, and die cutters are one of the most commonly used pieces of equipment in larger-scale operations. If you are investing in a packaging equipment rotary die cutter for your operation, a rotary die cutter will likely stand out as one of the best options. Here are a few pros and cons to consider.

Pro: Rotary die cutters give you a consistent cut for your products.

Consistency is key whether you are cutting product pieces or parts for your product packages, and the rotary die cutter is a piece of equipment that can give you unyielding precision and consistency no matter what type of material you are working with.

Con: Rotary die cutters don't make sense for variated projects with few pieces needed.

These die cutters are really made more for those producers who need a high volume of cuts, and they are a little inefficient otherwise. For example, if you only manufacture a small number of items and only need a handful of cuts made to a sheet of material to manufacture all you need, it would make more sense to have a table die cutter that is easier to configure.

Pro: Rotary die cutters are excellent for high-volume production.

If you are a high-volume manufacturer who needs a piece of equipment that can accommodate that volume, a rotary die cutter is a really good choice. This system works a lot faster than some of the table or stamp-type die cutters, so you will be able to complete processes at a much faster rate.

Con: Some rotary die cutters only work with thinner materials.

While there are some rotary die cutters that are capable of working with things like metal sheeting and hard plastics, this is not the norm for all of the cutter models. Most will work well with things like thin metal alloys, foils, plastics, and even fabric or paper. If you have to work with heavier materials, you do have to be careful about the unit that you choose.

Pro: Rotary die cutters work well for cutting products from a roll.

If your packing or manufacturing process involves using a web of materials, rotary die cutters can be one of the best choices for your facility. These pieces of equipment allow you to use rolls of materials, and many machines are actually designed to accommodate a roll of materials.
